The first four days of your private tour will be spent in Copenhagen, the Danish capital city. Your private guide will pick you up from the airport or your local accommodation to begin your tour. Spend the first 3 days exploring the best attractions in the city, including Rosenborg Castle, Amalienborg Palace, and the National Museum. Get to know every corner of the city as you take a scenic boat tour of the Nyhavn Canal, sailing through the historic harbor.

On your 4th day, you’ll venture outside Copenhagen for a few hours for a guided tour of Kronboerg Castle, famous for its role in Hamlet as Elsinore. You’ll walk through the castle’s grand interiors, feeling like a character in Hamlet as you explore the impressive halls and towers. Before returning to Copenhagen, visit the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, where you can enjoy beautiful modern and contemporary art and breathtaking views of the Øresund Sea through the large panoramic windows.

Days 5-6: Roskilde & West Zealand

Spend the next 2 nights in Roskilde, one of Denmark’s oldest cities. Step back in time at the Viking Ship Museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site Roskilde Cathedral.

On your 6th day, enjoy a day trip to West Zealand, starting at the Trelleborg Viking Fortress, dating back to 980 AD. Continue to Dragsholm Castle, featuring a Michelin-starred restaurant in the 13th-century fortress. You’ll finish the day with a scenic coastal walk along the Sejerø Bay before returning to Roskilde.

Days 7-8: Odense & Central Funen

Odense (2 nights)

Days 9–11: Southern Funen & Ærø Island

Head south, stopping in the scenic port town of Svendborg before a short ferry across the South Funen Archipelago. Arrive in Ærøskøbing, often called “Denmark’s Prettiest Town.” Spend the day exploring the charming town, and decide for yourself if it’s pretty as they say!

On day 10, explore Ærø Island, traveling its quiet roads and stunning coastal routes. If you’d like to cycle around parts of the island, our tour planners can arrange this for you. Explore the coastal cliffs of Voderup Klint, the picturesque Ærø’s windmills, and Skjoldnæs Lighthouse.

On your 11th day, you’ll take the return ferry across the South Funen Archipelago to start your scenic journey to Sønderborg. Explore the beautiful coastal town, including the Renaissance fortress of Sønderborg Castle.

Days 12–14: South Jutland & German Borderlands

On day 15, enjoy a North Sea road trip on your way to Hvide Sande, one of Denmark’s most loved beach destinations. Spend the day walking along the beach, exploring the harbor area, and climbing the Lyngvig Lighthouse for panoramic coastal views.

On your 16th day, your private guide will take you around Ringkøbing Fjord, one of Denmark’s largest coastal lagoons. Explore a recreated Viking harbor village at Bork Vikingehavn, and birdwatch at Tipperne Peninsula before exploring the quaint fishing village, Nymindegab. Days 18-20: Northern Jutland – Skagen

See the best attractions in Skagen, starting in the morning at Grenen, Denmark’s northernmost point. Enjoy guided tours of the Skagens Museum to see the famous works of the Skagen Painters and Anchers Hus & Drachmanns Hus, exploring the preserved homes of the famous artists.

Wander through the Råbjerg Mile, Denmark’s largest migrating sand dune. Spend some time on the white sandy beach of Sønderstrand, swimming in the sea or sunbathing and enjoying the views. There’s even time to indulge in a Nordic wellness experience at a local spa hotel.

On day 21, you’ll depart Skagen and head south to the vibrant city of Aalborg. Explore the Utzon Center designed by Jørn Utzon, the architect of the Sydney Opera House. Enjoy a walk along the Aalborg Waterfront Promenade before getting to know the old town before dinner.

Your 22nd day begins at Lindholm Høje, one of Denmark’s most important Viking archaeological sites. Explore ancient stone ships and burial mounds from the Iron and Viking Age. Ebeltoft (2 nights)

Spend a day at Denmark’s most scenic protected area, Mols Bjerge National Park, known for its breathtaking glacially formed landscapes. Enjoy scenic hikes with stunning viewpoints and the 14th-century Kalø Castle Ruins.

You’ll stay overnight in Ebeltoft and spend the following day getting to know the picturesque town. Wander through the scenic old town and see live performances at the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft (Glass Museum). In the afternoon, step aboard one of the world’s largest wooden ships, Frigate Jylland, with the early evening free to enjoy an ice cream while walking along the serene harbor. Days 27–28: Return to Copenhagen via South Zealand

On day 27, you’ll return to Copenhagen with plenty of stops along the way. Start the scenic cross-country drive through woodlands and tiny villages, with stopping for a coffee break in Odense. Next is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Stevns Klint. Walk along the clifftop of the stunning white chalk cliffs, with views of the Baltic Sea below. You’ll arrive in Copenhagen in the early evening, with one final night to enjoy the capital city.
