Arriver in Copenhagen, Denmark’s stylish capital city! Your private guide will meet you either at the airport or at your accommodation to get your tour underway. Start by exploring some of the city’s most iconic districts with your private guide:

Nyhavn:

The picture-perfect harbor is lined with colorful 17th-century buildings and historic wooden ships. It’s the perfect introduction to Copenhagen and a great spot to grab your first Danish coffee or a glass of wine by the canal.

Kongens Nytorv:

Explore this elegant square conveniently located near the Royal Theatre and shopping avenues and filled with impressive architecture.

Inner Harbor Promenade:

Enjoy the sea breeze as you walk past modern waterfront developments, historic ships, and bridges designed for bikes and pedestrians.

After exploring the city on foot, it’s time to do it on the water! Take a canal cruise from Nyhavn, traveling through a network of scenic canals and open harbor. It’s the perfect way to explore the city and get some great photos as you pass the Little Mermaid Statue, the Copenhagen Opera House, and stunning views of Amelienborg Palace, the home of the Danish royal family.

Your guide will take you back to Amalienborg Palace to witness the iconic Changing of the Guard. Your journey into royalty continues at Rosenborg Castle, where you can witness the majestic Crown Jewels.

You’ll also enjoy guided tours of the Designmuseum Denmark, showcasing Denmark’s renowned design heritage, and the National Museum of Denmark, featuring historic Viking weapons and medieval treasures.

The first two days are designed to ensure you get the perfect introduction to Copenhagen, and you’ll be back in Copenhagen towards the end of the tour for any remaining attractions!

Day 3: Roskilde & Central Zealand

Your 3rd day features a combination of UNESCO-listed sites and Viking heritage.

Sit back and relax as your driver-guide takes you west to Roskilde, starting at the historic Roskilde Cathedral. This UNESCO-listed cathedral boasts incredible Gothic architecture and is the final resting place of 40 Danish monarchs. Explore the chapels and tombs and admire the truly majestic stained glass windows before climbing the cathedral tower for panoramic views.

Next is the Viking Ship Museum, where you can witness five original Viking ships that were salvaged from the bottom of the fjord. Explore the boatyard, where you’ll see Viking building techniques, and then set sail yourself as you explore the fjord on a reconstructed Viking ship!

The final attraction of the day is the Lejre Land of Legends, an open-air museum with recreated Iron Age villages and Viking longhouses. It’s the perfect place to learn more about daily life in ancient Scandinavia.

Day 4: Odense & South Funen

Cross the iconic Great Belt Bridge as your guide takes you west to the city of Odense. Start at the award-winning Hans Christian Andersen Museum, where you can visit the author’s birthplace and see interactive exhibits bringing his fairytales to life. From the museum, your guide will lead you to the old town, passing through the cobbled streets and showing you sculptures from Andersen’s most beloved books.

In the afternoon, you’ll travel back in time to 19th-century Denmark at the Funen Village. This open-air museum features a recreated 1800s Danish village, complete with costumed interpreters and authentic buildings from that era.

Day 5: Svendborg & the South Funen Archipelago

Enjoy the scenic drive to Svendborg on the shores of the South Funen Archipelago. Your guide will introduce you to the coastal town, walking through the historic harbor and visiting the Maritime Centre to learn about the town’s maritime history. You will also take a trip to Naturama, a history museum featuring wildlife displays and exhibits on Denmark’s ecosystems.

Day 6: East Jutland – Vejle & Fjord Landscapes

On day 6, you’ll take another ferry, this time across the Little Belt Strait, before you continue by road through Southern Jutland to the fjord town of Vejle. Begin your time in the picturesque town with a stroll along the waterfront. See architectural gems such as “The Wave, a structure built to resemble the motion of the fjord, and “Fjordenhus,” a stunning waterfront building that rises directly from the harbor. Finish the city center with time to visit the charming boutiques, cafes, and design stores.

In the afternoon, take the short detour to the Jelling Stones, one of Denmark’s most important archaeological sites. Witness the 1,000-year-old Jelling Runestones, often referred to as “Denmark’s birth certificate.” The stones were raised by King Gorm the Old and Harald Bluetooth and marked Denmark’s conversion to Christianity.

Day 7: North Zealand

Spend the morning enjoying a scenic drive through the rolling countryside en route to Hillerød in North Zealand.

You’ll start with a guided tour of the magnificent Frederiksborg Castle, the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia. Highlight include:

  • The Knight’s Hall, a grand ceremonial space with ornate wall decorations.

Day 8: Kronborg Castle & Coastal Retreat

Day 8 starts with a trip to Helsingør, a coastal town located in the Øresund Strait, just across the water from Sweden. Enjoy a guided tour of UNESCO-listed Kronborg Castle, known as Elsinore in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Your guide will share stories of its links to Hamlet as you explore the castle. See the Royal Apartments and walk through the ballroom that has held feasts for centuries. Head below the castle to the underground casemates and see the statue of the legendary Holger Danske, a mythical warrior that legend says will awake when Denmark needs him again!

Stop at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and see masterpieces by renowned artists like Picasso and Giacometti. Stroll through the stunning gardens, which feature outdoor sculptures throughout. After the museum, you’ll carry on to Copenhagen, where you’ll stay for the remaining two nights.

Days 9-10: Copenhagen

After a busy eight days exploring the best attractions around Denmark, your 9th day will be a bit more slow-paced as your tour begins to wind down. Your private guide will take you to Strøget, one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe, where you can visit international boutiques and shop for Danish fashion labels.

After a mini shopping spree, visit a wellness escape at the AIRE Ancient Baths Copenhagen, where you can unwind in the thermal baths, steam room, and ice pools or even treat yourself to a relaxing massage.

Spend the afternoon at the Reffen Street Food Market before visiting Bakken, the world’s oldest amusement park.

Your 10th day will be tailored to your travel arrangements. Your private guide can take you to the Tivoli Gardens, a beloved amusement park featuring one of the world’s oldest rollercoasters and meticulous gardens to relax in. From the park, your private guide will take you to the airport for your flight home after a 10-day Danish adventure!
