Days 1-2: Copenhagen – A Royal Welcome
Your private guide will meet you at the airport or your accommodation in Copenhagen to begin your personalized tour. Start by discovering the city from the water with a scenic canal cruise through Nyhavn, gliding past iconic landmarks like the Little Mermaid statue and the Royal Danish Playhouse. Explore vibrant neighborhoods such as the Latin Quarter and Nørrebro, then visit cultural highlights, including Amalienborg Palace, the Designmuseum Danmark, and the beautifully preserved Rosenborg Castle, home to the Danish crown jewels.
Day 3-4: Lolland – “Green Island”
Your private guide will take you south to Lolland, known as Denmark’s “green island.” Start at the Knuthenborg Park & Safari, one of Europe’s largest private estates, where your guide will show you the beautiful English-style gardens and historic manor house. In the evening, you’ll arrive in the coastal town of Nysted, where you’ll stay for the next 2 nights.
Day 4 begins with an outing to Hyllekrog Nature Reserve, perfect for birdwatching and a scenic walk with views of the Baltic Sea. You’ll be rewarded after your walk with a guided tasting tour at one of the island’s organic cider farms. Speak to producers about the cider-making process and learn how they use sustainable farming methods. You’ll then be able to taste a range of ciders and fruit wines, often paired with local cheeses and meats.
Days 5-6: Ærø Island – A Seaside Dream
Your fifth and 6th days will be spent on Ærø Island, one of the most beloved islands in Denmark. Catch the ferry to Ærø Island, enjoying breathtaking views of the South Funen Archipelago along the way.
See the best attractions across the island, explore the fairytale town of Ærøskøbing, a cliffside walk along the stunning Voderup Klint, and learn more about the island’s sea history at the Marstal Maritime Museum. Weather permitting, there will even be time for a couple of hours on the beach, swimming in the shallow waters or relaxing on the sand and enjoying the views.
Days 7–8: South Funen Archipelago – Svendborg & Island Hopping
Take the ferry back to Funen on your way to the vibrant town of Svendborg, where you’ll be based for the next 2 nights. Walk along the leisurely marina and stop in traditional cafes with harbor views. In the afternoon, either rent a kayak or take part in a guided paddling tour through the Svendborgsund. Paddle across the strait, enjoying close-up views of the archipelago. It’s the perfect activity to build up an appetite before dinner.
Day 8 will be spent island hopping as your private guide takes you from Svendborg to the romantic Tåsinge Island. Explore Valdemars Castle, a grand baroque manor, where you can walk through the elegant rooms, private chapel, and nearby woodland trails. Your guide will take you to Landet Church and tell you the famous and tragic love story between Elvira Madigan and Sixten Sparre before you pay your respects at their graveside. Walk along the Tåsinge coastline before returning to Svendborg.
Days 9–10: Wadden Sea National Park
On day 9, leave Svendborg and travel towards the UNESCO-listed Wadden Sea National Park. Arrive in Ribe, Denmark’s oldest town, where you’ll be staying for the next two nights. Visit the stunning Ribe Cathedral, wander through the town’s medieval lanes, and visit the Ribe Viking Center, an open-air museum that recreates a Viking-age marketplace.
Your 10th day will be spent exploring the Wadden Sea, a unique ecosystem that stretches across the Danish, German, and Dutch coasts. Join a guided mudflat hike, where a local guide will show you how the tide shapes life here and witness shellfish, worms, and crustaceans in their natural habitat.
Spend the afternoon in Tøndermarsken, Denmark’s most significant coastal wetland. Visit the small town of Højer, where you can explore the Højer Windmill, and climb the Marsk Tower, for panoramic views of the marsh. Your guide will then return to RIbe, where you’ll spend one final night before exploring West Jutland.
Days 11-12: West Jutland – Harbors and Boat Cruises
Enjoy the scenic drive from Ribe through the Wadden Sea region, passing grassy dunes and lakes. Arrive in Gvide Sande, a relaxing fishing town between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord. Start at one of Denmark’s most iconic lighthouses, Lyngvig Fyr, where if you climb the 228 steps to the top, you’ll get stunning views over the dunes and fjord. Finish the day at Hvide Sande’s harbor, where you can sample seafood at the fishmonger’s stall and visit the local shops offering Nordic design and handmade crafts.
On day 12, enjoy a serene escape for a few hours as you take a guided boat tour of the Ringkøbing Fjord. Search for wildlife around the nature reserves and wetlands, with the possibility of spotting seals. Enjoy the views of historic harbors, fishing huts, and dune landscapes as you relax on the calm fjord waters.
Days 13-14: North Zealand & Copenhagen Return
On day 13, arrive in Hillerød, North Zealand, renowned for the magnificent Frederiksborg Castle. Take a guided tour of the castle, exploring the lavish rooms, including the Knight’s Hall and Chapel of Orders. Visit the Museum of Natural History, where you’ll learn about centuries of Danish royalty. After touring the castle, finish with a leisurely walk through the stunning Baroque gardens, enjoying views of the castle as you walk by clipped edges and fresh fountains.
On day 14, you’ll head towards Copenhagen, stopping at Kronborg Castle, known as Hamlet’s Castle for its role in the famous play.
