Stevns Klint (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

The first attraction of the day is Stevns Klint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and unique coastal cliff made of layers of chalk and limestone. Within the layers is a band of clay that shows rare evidence of the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago!

With your private guide, walk along the scenic coastal trail with stunning views over the Baltic Sea. Your guide will highlight the distinct white cliffs and fossils embedded in the rock. You’ll also be able to see the cliffside church of Højerup, part of which collapsed in the sea in 1928. Finish at the Stevns Klint Experience Center for further insights into the geological areas.

Drive from Stevns Klint to Møns Klint

After a morning exploring these stunning cliffs, enjoy a scenic drive through southern Zealand’s farmlands and forests. When you arrive at Møns Klint, you can take a lunch break before continuing your private tour. You can either have lunch at the cliffs cafe, or we can arrange for you to have a picnic overlooking the cliffs and coastline.

After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of Møns Klint, one of Denmark’s most iconic natural wonders. The white chalk cliffs are 6km in length and tower over the sea below. The cliffs were formed over 70 million years ago, taking you back in time to the birth of the Danish landscape.

Highlights of your guided tour include:

  • Your guide will lead you through the ancient beech forest that clings to the cliff edge while telling you about the rare flora and fauna.
  • Walk down the 497 steps to the pebble beach below for unforgettable views up the cliff face. While on the beach, take the chance to hunt for fossils!
  • Head to GeoCenter Møns Klint, where you can see exhibits about Denmark’s geological evolution and the Ice Age.

After a day exploring two historic and iconic cliffs, it’s time to begin the 2-hour drive back to Copenhagen. The drive back is quite scenic, so your private guide can pull over for photo stops at your request or for a quick coffee to break up the drive.
